U.S. flag dedicated during ceremony at church

Flag dedicated at church in Berrett
Messiah Lutheran Church, in Berrett, had a United States Flag Dedication Ceremony July 8 at the 9 a.m. worship service. It honored the presentation of the American flag which was flown May 13 above Camp Delaram II in Nimroz Province, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.
This U.S. flag was accompanied by a certificate from the Marine Corps Regimental Combat Team 6 and signed by the commanding officer, Col. J.R. Shafer.
Messiah Lutheran Church member 1st Lt. Michael E. Bell served with Regimental Combat Team 6, based out of Camp Lejeune, N.C., December 2011-June 2012 as a fiscal management officer. He is currently stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va.
Bell was present as veterans and Boy Scout Troop 733, from Winfield Fire Hall, led the dedication and retired the previous U.S. flag.
